Tools for Your Digital Essay: What to Choose and How to Do These Tricks in Word
Hyperlink
1. What to Hyperlink: Key people, places, events, phrases, concepts that provide important
background/contextual information for your essay. When clicked, the link will direct readers to an
outside web source, such as another article, an infographic, a web encyclopedia, a government or
organization’s site, or a video.
2. How to in Word: Copy the URL from the site you want to link to your essay>With your cursor, highlight
the text in your essay you want to hyperlink>Type Control + K (or Left click>Hyperlink or Insert>
) >In the box that opens, paste the URL in the “Address” window>Click “OK”
Insert an Image
1. What Images to Insert: Choose images that reflect the tone and purpose of your essay and that function
to persuade your audience by making emotional, logical, or ethical appeals.
2. How to in Word:
One way: Find an image from a web source>Left click>Copy Image (or Control + C)>Return to
document>Left click and Copy (or Control + V)
Second way: Find an image from a web source>Left click>Save As (or Control + S)>Save image in a file on
your computer>Return to document>Insert>Pictures>Find file>Select image>Insert
Adjust the size but keep the proportions: Click on the image and press and hold Shift while you drag the
corner sizing handle. To resize multiple objects at the same time, press and hold Ctrl while selecting each
object.
Crop an image: Click on the image>Click on the Picture Tools Tab>On the right of the tool bar
click on Crop image>Select Crop from the drop down menu (or Left click an image>Select
Note: If you’re copying an image from a web source, be sure to note the source to credit the
source in a caption beneath it. You can also include images or photos you’ve created yourself.
Insert a Video
1. Which Video: As with images, choose a video that reflects the tone and purpose of your essay or
advances your argument by providing evidence or represents important contextual/background
information. Find the shortest video that serves your purpose.
2. How to in Word: Your best bet is to go to Youtube or Vimeo and find a video you want to embed.
In Youtube, click Share beneath the video>Click Embed>Copy the Video Embed Code that appears in the
window>Return to your document>Click Online Video in the Task bar>paste the video embed code in the
window (3rd option)>Click the arrow
In Vimeo, click Share beneath the video>copy the embed code provided in the window that opens Return
to your document>Click Online Video in the Task bar>paste the video embed code in the window (3rd
option)>Click the arrow.
Note: If your video has a black background instead of an image, take the following steps to change the
static picture: Right click on the video>Choose Change Picture>Select an image from the available
options.
Text Wrapping
1. With text wrapping, you can insert an image near relevant text in your essay. However, you may notice
that it’s difficult to move it exactly where you want. This is because by default the image is in line with
the text. If you want to move the image freely, you’ll usually need to choose a different text
wrapping setting.
2. How to: Insert an image in your text in the paragraph where you would like it to appear>Adjust its
size>Click on the image>Click the Page Layout tab>Open the drop down menu for Wrap Text>Click any of
the choices and move your picture around to see what you like best—Experiment! Always remember to
keep your reader in mind: Arrange images so it’s still easy to read your text.
Pull Quotes
1. What to Offset and Embolden: Pull out a powerful statement from someone you have quoted in your
paper or a statement of your own that you would like to highlight. Readers are drawn to these
emboldened and enlarged statements; they can pique readers’ interest to read or emphasize an idea
you’d like them to take away from your essay.
2. How to: Click “Insert” from the tabs>Click Text Box>Select “Simple Text Box”>Type in the statement
you’d like to highlight (if it’s a quote, put quotation marks around the statement; if it’s your writing, just
type in your statement)>With your cursor, highlight the
typed text and a formatting box will pop up>Enlarge the
font to desired size and bold the text>You can leave the
box outline or click on the box and then click Format
from the tabs to change or remove the Shape
Outline>Follow instructions for Text Wrapping above to move the quote where you’d like within your
paragraph>Use the size handles to adjust the shape of your box.
Type your striking
statement or quote here.
Captions
1. What to say: Describe who/what/where/when and something of interest to the reader that’s not obvious
from the image. Don’t just state the obvious; provide some detail that the reader can’t see. Follow with
the source citation; see “Caption Citation/Source” below for options.
2. How to:
Left click on your image or video>Select “Insert Caption” from dropdown menu>Choose a label (Fig. or
Table)>Write your caption and source citation. Tip: Start the caption and citation in the box that opens,
but I found it easier to edit once I clicked OK and then I could edit it in the document instead of in the
little window.
3. Caption Citation/Source: Two choices:
1) After the caption, provide only the name of the artist/photographer/cartoonist; then, provide the full
citation in the Works Cited page (see Sample 1 below).
2) You can provide the full source citation after your caption; if you do, you do not need to list it again in
your Works Cited page (See Sample 2 below)
3) Include in-text reference to image: In the text of your essay, be sure refer to the figure in parenthesis.
Number figures (photos, drawings, cartoons, maps, graphs, and charts) and tables separately.
Sample in-text reference for second image below:
Harborside, a medical marijuana dispensary, provides a large variety of marijuana (see Fig. 2).
Sample 1: Only the source name given in the caption; the full citation is in the Works Cited page.

Before children walk independently in the world, children spend more than half of their time with their parents, who are their natural, non-optional and non-replaceable first teachers. Parents' words, deeds and words have an edifying effect on their children. This subtle influence is the basic way of family moral education, which is much stronger and deeper than school moral education and social moral education. Parents are duty-bound to develop their children. Parents are the strongest support for their children. Their devotion to family ties and love for their children may have a profound impact on their children's personality in the future. Generally speaking, ordinary people think that sensory enjoyment is happiness, and their attempts also point to these. According to them, looking for happiness means looking for sensual pleasure. The question of "what is happiness" will not appear in their hearts, because in their hearts, they regard a life full of sensual pleasure as a happy life.(ysselgnna).Happiness is to let people freely experience their ideal spiritual and material life and their psychological satisfaction. I think happiness is a subjective feeling. People are satisfied with their ideal life. This is a natural and heartfelt feeling, not an objective standard( Dr. Jordan McKenzie). However, parents should adopt those educational methods to enable their children to live a happy childhood.Aristotle said, "education is to create a healthy mind in a healthy body." It contains the all-round development of individuals. The success of spreading education to as wide a field as possible lies in the way education is taught (Yumnamagasi). In the primary school stage, the content of study and reading should be mainly scientific and natural. In terms of content selection, when children are young, it is best to use various scientific and natural reading materials, which is conducive to the cultivation of "one-dimensional thinking". Because "nature" and "world" operate according to a strict chain of cause and effect. This is the basic thinking of life and our basic weapon to adapt to the real world. To choose reading that is close to life, reflects life, and introduces natural laws and social laws is to enable children to face real life and the real world more and more, maintain good living habits and personal conduct, so as to cultivate the surest people. First check the missing and abnormal values of the data set. Before analysis, use the survey weight provided on the data set to ensure that the data represents the entire population. Participants' background information is presented using descriptive statistics. Before the analysis, the five categories of happiness, health and life satisfaction were divided into two groups.Stata is used for data analysis. The main inclusion criteria for this study are the availability of information on outcome variables (subjective health, happiness and quality of life). The percentage of happiness, health and life satisfaction as well as 95% confidence interval of all predicted variables are presented. The non-grouped proportion of perceived happiness, health and life satisfaction is also calculated and presented in the form of histogram. These analyses are stratified by age and sex to better understand the demographic patterns in the distribution of outcome variables. Chi-square binary test is used to evaluate the statistical significance between the three results and the predicted variables. At the bivariate level, 0.25 related variables are reserved for multivariate analysis (Ghose, 2017).MANOVA was used in the study. The correlation between potential structures was observed by scanning electron microscope. For SEM, the goodness-of-fit index of the assumed enclosure is good and all paths are significant. The model integrates the influence of variables related to Tom, such as whether a person is happy with his family, whether the family is well together, the time parents spend with their children, etc. This model is very helpful to the happiness of Abu Dhabi primary school students. MANOVA shows that in all structures, there are significant differences among students of different grades, grades, school locations, school types and nationalities. Happiness is often used as a term of subjective well-being in psychology (Lyubomirsky et al., 2005aSagiv et al., 2004; Sheldon and Lubo mirsky, 2004). Families are characterized by face-to-face communication. Family members are close to each other in space and have more interaction time. Personal guidance and lifelong shaping based on love in family education are very important to personal socialization. Family education mainly has the following important characteristics: first, the primacy of preconceptions; Secondly, the way of controlling the educated is multidimensional. In addition, the closeness of communication and contact among family groups;Profoundness of understanding and influence on the educated and unity of education and life. For example,if a child's performance is not good, he always thinks that he is not smart enough, not that his efforts have not reached a certain level. Professor Carol Dwek of Stanford University mentioned very seriously that praising the child's talent rather than his efforts, strategies and choices is killing his growth thinking. Many parents praise their children in the wrong way. They are used to praising their children for intelligence rather than hard work. They emphasize the results too much when praising their children, rather than the excellent qualities such as willpower reflected in the process of hard work, or they praise them without any basis and in a vague way. If you want to cultivate your child's growth thinking, you need to praise your child skillfully, specifically for a certain thing or a certain point, so that your child can understand which aspect of yourself is doing well, and if you listen to too many vague praise, your child will lose himself, and then it will always be difficult to accept criticism and his failure. Many parents can't see their children's mistakes and failures correctly, and will take them too seriously, thinking that they can't reflect their children's abilities and have no face of their own. for children to grow up. In fact, mistakes and failures are the best opportunities For anyone, to avoid failure means to give up progress. Therefore, parents should first understand and allow their children to make mistakes, encourage them to try more, constantly break down thinking restrictions, look for new opportunities, think deeply step by step, and gradually become stronger. Sometimes when children feel depressed and frustrated and full of doubts about themselves, parents should guide their children to pay more attention to the process. A process-oriented mode of thinking will give children more confidence. To cultivate children's growth-oriented thinking, it is very important to let children understand that their abilities will grow and that failure and mistakes are not terrible. Through constant exploration, children have solved problems, found a sense of achievement and cultivated their thinking ability. As time passes, they will be better at solving difficult problems, have more confidence, and are good at thinking and solving any problems they encounter. The way of thinking is the way a person looks at things and reflects a kind of attitude towards life. Growth thinking is undoubtedly a positive attitude towards life. It will enable children to embrace learning and growth, understand the effect of hard work on intellectual growth, and have a good ability to adapt to setbacks.Unhappiness is usually a perfect and appropriate response to the world situation(Giles Fraser).Children educated by "tiger mother and wolf father" tend to show maladjustment to the external environment, such as depression, anxiety and poor social skills. In the 1960s, three new words were created for parents' education: authoritarian, laissez-faire and authoritative. At present, these three concepts are still widely used in the field of social science. The research results confirm that "authoritarian" parental education will lead to serious mental health problems for children and adolescents. Every teenager has his own interests and hobbies. Some will show up in his children's behavior at a very young age, while others will be later. When carrying out family education, parents should pay attention to discover the children's interests and hobbies. He set the future development direction for the children early in the morning and forcefully deprived them of their interests and hobbies. Wolf Dad's behavior has suppressed the development of the children's personality and creativity. In conclusion,Give children reasonable guidance and education on the basis of respecting their independent rights. To help children make choices and judgments with their rich experience and professional vision, instead of forcing children to become useful or planning children to become useful. In short, all sectors of society need to realize that they shoulder the responsibility of training the outstanding next generation and work together to build a good social atmosphere for the healthy growth of young people, help children to form a correct outlook on life and values, become the backbone of the country and enhance competitiveness.Parents are the first teachers of the children. our core Family education plays a very important role in the growth of children. The best way to make a child grow up healthily is to make her feel happy. Work Cited 1.Giles Fraser. Taking pills for unhappiness reinforces the idea that being sad is not human.2013 2.
